Rakusui-Shi: RAKUSUI, or “water dropping” in English, is a traditional washi-making technique that allows us to make washi with different patterns by dropping water from above spraying water with a shower.
We can also use a mold made of water-repellent material with a smooth surface, to create patterns.

You can draw patterns freely on an A4 washi paper using the materials we have in our studio: colored washi paper, Yuzen washi (patterned paper), Tengu-joshi (thin paper), pressed flowers, colored Kozo fibers, and gold/silver leaves. You can also combine different colored washi and/or colored Kozo fibers. You can also bring in your own materials or motifs.
Note: when you bring in your own materials, please choose thin, flat, non-water-repellent materials to finish your paper nicely.
